What We’ve Helped Build

Unconscious Bias Training for Municipalities with AMANS

In 2025, Sea Change worked with the Association of Municipal Administrators of Nova Scotia (AMANS) to develop a self-paced online training that helps municipal staff and leaders better understand unconscious bias. The training looks at how our quick, often-unnoticed judgments—based on race, gender, ability, and more—can affect decisions about hiring, promotions, and how we treat others at work. Through four short, interactive modules, participants will learn to spot and interrupt bias, reflect on how it shows up in their own workplaces, and explore practical ways to foster more inclusive municipal environments. The course also includes discussion prompts and knowledge checks, making it a thoughtful mix of self-reflection and real-world application.”

Customized Accessibility Training for IWK Health

In 2025, Sea Change worked with IWK Health to adapt existing training from the Accessibility Confident Employers (ACE) Project into customized modules that live within IWK’s learning management system. The goal is to make accessibility learning more integrated, relevant, and engaging for IWK staff. The first two focus areas—Accessibility Foundations and Accessible Communications—introduce core concepts and everyday practices that support inclusion across the organization. This collaboration helps ensure that accessibility is not just a policy, but a lived part of workplace culture at IWK.

Transformational Facilitation Experiences

We design and lead customized facilitation that helps teams have meaningful conversations, make decisions, and move work forward.

We bring people together in structured, inclusive spaces to align priorities, work through challenges, and take action.

What This Can Look Like

Our facilitation can include:

  • Strategic planning sessions and retreats that clarify direction and next steps
  • Team alignment and priority-setting conversations that build focus and momentum
  • Knowledge exchanges and cross-team collaboration sessions that strengthen collaboration
  • Guided discussions that help teams navigate complex or sensitive topics
  • Stakeholder engagement sessions that prioritize input and build buy-in
  • Workshops to explore challenges, identify opportunities, and create shared direction

We design each session around your goals and team, with a clear focus on outcomes people can act on.

Our Approach

We create spaces where people can:

  • contribute openly and meaningfully
  • build shared understanding
  • explore different perspectives
  • Agree on clear next steps

We balance structure with flexibility to keep conversations focused and productive. Our approach builds trust, reduces uncertainty, and helps teams have honest, useful conversations that move work forward.

What We’ve Helped Build

THANS/211- Knowledge Exchange

In 2024, Sea Change facilitated knowledge exchanges in multiple locations across Nova Scotia between 211 and Transition House Association of Nova Scotia (THANS) members. The knowledge exchanges support a warm transfer between 211 and THANS members. The goal is that any phone number is the right number for someone who calls to get support for gender-based violence, and any other needs. If someone calls 211, they can be connected to a shelter, and if they call a shelter, but need support around employment or food, they can get that support from 211. The 211/THANS partnership aims to drive systemic change and improve support for vulnerable populations in Nova Scotia.

ISANS Board Retreat- Strategic Planning

We facilitated a board retreat to kick off a new strategic planning process for the ISANS Board. Using a strength-based approach, board members identified what they’re proud of.

NS Department of Community Services, Child and Family Wellbeing

Sea Change facilitated knowledge exchanges to create opportunities for collaboration, so community mobilizers feel less isolated and more connected in their work across NS. We explored the 4 Pillars of Community Mobilization model to shift from program delivery to enabling community-led action so children, youth, and families feel supported by the community.
